Thursday, May 26, at about 9 p.m., a Cottonwood police officer was alerted to a disturbance in the area of Mingus Avenue and Main Street near Circle K. According to a news release from the Cottonwood Police Department, the officer contacted three men who were involved in an argument. Another officer soon arrived to provide assistance. Comment?

A Cottonwood woman was able to get help at an Anthem Walmart store after a man, who relatives said had harassed and stalked her, kidnapped her. According to police information, family members of a 31-year-old woman said she had not returned home from work on May 10; relatives found the woman's car in a secluded area near her job and found one of her shoes on the ground along with a small pool of blood. In the early morning hours of May 11, Cottonwood police were notified by family members that 31-year-old Gabina Salcido Cano may have been kidnapped. Family members of Cano reported she was to be home from her place of work at around 10 p.m. Tuesday, but she never arrived, according to a news release from the Cottonwood Police Department. Comment?

Yavapai County Sheriff Scott Mascher was notified by the Yavapai County Attorney's Office this week that Deputy Steven Gorman has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the May 2015 shooting death Ebin Proctor. The county attorney's conclusion was based on a review of the Arizona Department of Public Safety shooting investigation report and extensive supplemental documentation submitted. Comment?

The Yavapai County Attorney's Office announced Tuesday that they were unable to find any criminal wrongdoing in the shooting death of a man at a traffic stop by a deputy last year. Proctor was shot and killed in Cottonwood on May 30, 2015, after Gorman chased and got into a physical altercation with him following a traffic stop, investigators said. Comment?

Two young Cottonwood men have been arrested after a motorist told Yavapai County sheriff's deputies "he thought they were going to kill him" after allegedly firing a gun at his van and shattering the windshield. According to Yavapai County Sheriff's Office media relations coordinator Dwight D'Evelyn, Anthony Villalobos and Genaro Soto, both 18, from Cottonwood, were arrested on charges that include aggravated assault, disorderly conduct with a weapon, criminal damage, and endangerment. Comment?
