I was arrested for DUI on August 8th. I've researched lawyers and I'm saving up to afford one. My first court date was today (9-17) where upon appearing in front of the judge I asked for an extension to afford a lawyer who could help me decide what I should plea and the judge was very unaccommodating and gave me one week. I was issued a summons that reads: "It is hereby commanded that laying all other business aside you shall be at and appear before the court on Tuesday 9-24th to answer the charges indicated above. You are further directed to bring with you any and all witnesses or evidence which you desire to produce in trial of your case. Herein fail not under penalty of law." I was also issued an identically worded summons for the date 10-29.
Feel free to give my office a call tomorrow and we can discuss your options.
Must I report a DUI/misdemeanor possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana arrest from 2000 on job applications?
In 2000 , I was stopped at a road block . State patrol officers searched the car I was driving ( it wasn't my car ) and found marijuana . I was arrested for possession and given a DUI / misdemeanor charge . At the patrol office , I paid a fine and was released . Do I have to report this on job application now when asked about past convictions ? Does this arrest equal a conviction and would it show up on a background report ?
If you paid a fine, you have a conviction. Therefore, you have to report it. Also, if any job applications ask about...

On the ticket the wron road was wrote down that he was stopped on , what do you suggest. The state trooper told the sheriff's deputy that he should have followed him home. But the deputy told my son that he was upset because my son's ex-wife took about 2 feet of his property when she wrecked a few years ago.
It sounds like your son will have several very good arguments in his favor when fighting his DUI charge. He should...

Before leaving for the club I took sudaffed PE and cough medicine because I was sick. I quit drinking around 12 and at 1 I went to the truck to sleep. I was woken up by two guys I went with. I drove them down the road to baytree pizza in valdosta. When leaving the pizza place I sideswiped a car. I told the people who saw I was going to pick up the rest of our friends and that I would be right back. and the cops arrested me when I went to pick the rest of our friends up. All I blew was a .03. I am 20 years of age and will be 21 in May. I go to school and have a 3.2 GPA. I'm planning attending VSU in the summer. How likely is it that I can get the DUI reduced and maybe one or two of the charges dropped if I go to court without a lawyer?
You should not represent yourself on these charges! Your drivers license, your freedom, your record are all too...

Upon their decsion, his TPM is Oct 2011. That is over HALF his senence. He was arrested in June 2009, sentenced in Aug of 2009. Hard to believe they are making him wait that long for parol for a level 1 felony. His probation was revoked at this time as well. He had two other felonies ( enter a vechile, and theft by taken) which are also level 1. Why is he severing so long?
You should contact an attorney licensed in your state that handles these cases routinely. Only someone that is familiar...
