BRADENTON, Fla., Jan. 24, 2011, 4 p.m. -- Two St. Petersburg, Fla., officers and a deputy U.S. Marshal are the latest in a series of shootings that have targeted multiple police officers and killed four in the past week. A Bradenton man pleaded no contest to charges levied against him after grabbing a woman and leading police on a chase across the Cortez Bridge in August. Douglas Bloomer, 48, was adjudicated guilty Nov. 10 on three counts - battery, domestic injunction violation and opposing an officer without violence - and was sentenced to the 70 days already served in Manatee County jail following his arrest. In Columbiana County Municipal Court, David Garcia, 54, Woodland Avenue, Salem, waived his right to an extradition hearing so he can be returned to New Jersey where he faces an alleged persistant parole violation. Charles Matthew Davis Jr., 25, Forbes Road, Wellsville, was fined $300, credited with a day served in jail, had his license suspended for 180 days in jail, required to attend a three-day counseling program and ordered 30 hours community service for physical control and open container. An East Bradenton, Fla., man who went viral in July for stealing a Confederate flag off a home on video is getting a light punishment. Dejerrian Dequan Murray and an unidentified friend went to a home in the 5600 block of 43rd Street East and took a Confederate flag hanging in front of the home that was valued at about $100, according to an arrest report.
