Several people in the vicinity of a Houston strip mall were injured by a shooter who fired upon vehicles on Monday, and the suspect was shot by police officers, authorities in the Texas city said. Paramedics were recently called to the Orleans Parish jail after an inmate overdosed on a suspected illegal drug - one that was possibly smuggled into the facility, according to a corrections expert tasked with monitoring the troubled facility.
