If you or a loved one have the misfortune to collapse in the San Ramon Valley due to a sudden cardiac arrest, your best friend might be a seventh-grader. Since 2011, about 3,000 12- to 13-year-olds in San Ramon, Alamo, Danville, Diablo, Blackhawk and part of the Tassajara Valley have completed a basic course in the new, easier, hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of Automated External Defibrillators.
