Cleanup began in Austin this morning where at least one and as many as three tornadoes ripped through town Wednesday evening and knocked out power to most of the city while toppling trees, tossing cars and damaging some homes and buildings.

BRECKENRIDGE, Minn. - Weary flood fighters tossed optimism around with the sandbags Tuesday, as the Red River's climb stalled in Breckenridge, on its still potentially wild ride north.

Breckenridge City Officials are asking for more of the public's help. According to the Wilkin County Sheriff's Office, the city is in dire need of volunteers to help build dikes and fill sandbags.

Guarded confidence was slowly building along the Red River today that the valley's inhabitants can win their battle against the flood of 2009.

Flooding was receding in the Foxhome area Wednesday. That was the good news for Wilkin County farmers between Breckenridge and Foxhome.

The flood fight has begun in Wilkin County. The warm weather has caused overland flooding; water is lapping up next to homes, in Foxhome.

Overland flooding has forced Wilkin County to close several roads, and conditions are expected to worsen as the day wears on and more snow melts, County Engineer Tom Richels said.
