Radio DJ is avid supporter of Bikefest
The "First Annual Colonial Beach Bikefest" is the brainchild of several people including co-founder and radio DJ Ripley from 97.7 "Ripley on the Rocket" show broadcast in Southern MD, but heard throughout Westmoreland County in the afternoon. Ripley, an ex-Baltimore City Police Officer, retired from the hey-days of the force in 1989 when he had a life-threatening struggle with a criminal who had his hands on the police sergeant's service revolver.

Several local businesses have recently accepted the ALS Ice-bucket Challenge. Among those businesses are Union First Market Bank, Northern Neck Chevrolet, The Inn at Montross, Westmoreland County Museum, Ingleside Winery, Angelos restaurant and catering staff, and Northern Neck Building Supply.
