Sodus double homicide trial begins

The husband and father of two women killed in Sodus last year was one of the first witnesses in the trial of Dante Taylor. Taylor is accused of killing Terri and Stacey Moulton when they unknowingly interrupted a burglary at a neighbor's home.

Wayne Narcotics Enforcement Team seizes 140 plants during marijuana eradication

More than 100 marijuana plants were seized during a marijuana eradication on Monday in the towns of Macedon, Walworth, Marion, Huron and Lyons. Members of the Wayne Narcotics Enforcement Team tell us 140 plants were seized between all five towns.

Train Traveler charged in Wallet Theft

Wayne County Sheriff's Deputies reported the arrest on Tuesday of a California man as a Fugitive from Justice from the State of New Jersey. On Monday at around 2 a.m. deputies were notified by Rochester Police Officers they had a subject in custody as the result of an investigation into a larceny that occurred on an Amtrak train.

Wayne County man charged with stealing four chain saws from Hannibal business

Oswego County sheriff's deputies have charged a Wayne County man with burglary after they say he took four chain saws from a business. Richard O. Kent Jr., 26, of 14002 State Route 370 in Red Creek, was charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies.

Group home worker held on rape charges

A man who worked for an addiction counseling agency as night supervisor of a group home in Wayne County has been indicted by a grand jury on rape and sexual abuse charges. Thirty-seven-year-old Steven Tomlin was charged after a call to the New York State Justice Center's Vulnerable Persons Hotline, accusing him of having sex with a halfway house resident in Newark.

Neighbors in Sodus Point worry that proposal to raise Lake Ontario water levels could flood village

The Village of Sodus Point in Wayne County believes a plan to raise Lake Ontario water levels could submerge much of the village every summer. Sodus Point has been keeping water level data going back 1918, and says the levels the commission has proposed would put most of the village in a flood stage virtually all summer long.

Explorers find rare schooner wreck in Lake Ontario; vessel sank off NY shore during 1833 gale

A team of underwater explorers says it has found the sunken wreck of a rare type of schooner that went down in a Lake Ontario gale during the 1830s. The three shipwreck enthusiasts from western New York say they found the 45-foot-long Three Brothers in July in deep water west of Oswego.

RPD officer killed on duty, Sister is a Wayne County Corrections Officer

Rochester Police Officer Daryl Pierson, age 32, was killed Wednesday night while pursuing a suspect in the area of Hudson Avenue and Warsaw Street in the city's Northeast side. Investigators said there was a shoot out during the chase between the officer and suspect.
