New Jersey lawmakers not sold on bill to raise tobacco-buying age

The New Jersey Senate passed a bill in late June to raise the age to buy tobacco and electronic smoking devices from 19 to 21. Northwest New Jersey lawmakers say they're well aware of smoking's adverse effects, but the choice to buy tobacco is one all adults should be allowed to make for themselves.

Ex-Belvidere woman sentenced for scam that netted her $70,000 in food stamps, other aid

A New Jersey Superior Court judge Wednesday sentenced Darlene Maciunski, now of Hamlin, N.Y., to 67 days' time served in the Warren County jail and two years' probation, according to court records.
