About 100 Ware Magnet School students broke down in sobs tonight as the Ware County school board voted to close the school in May at the end of its 17th year.

Financial problems have a local school facing possible closure. At 7 p.m. tonight, there will be a brainstorming session at the Ware County Board of Education on Bailey Street in Waycross.

Waycross Middle School has been named a Georgia School of Excellence in Student Achievement, state school Superintendant Kathy Cox said.
