Abandoned dog inspires community, statewide response 9 hours from now

The 1-year-old terrier-like mix ran around the Adopt-A-Pet shelter in Victoria on Friday afternoon, peering and pivoting, fetching a toy and following her curiosity to various rooms and offices in the building. A veterinarian at the shelter removed one of her eyes during a surgery Thursday, a day after she arrived at the pet haven.

Scammer targets people with threat of warrant arrest 5 hours from now ...

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be with the sheriff's office asking for your bank account information to pay fines and fees, hang up. The Victoria County Sheriff's Office received at least one complaint Wednesday of a person demanding bank information from a resident and threatening a warrant would be issued for his or her arrest, according to a news release.

Car, garage catch fire in Bloomington an hour from now

Firefighters investigated to make sure all hot spots are extinguished in a garage that caught fire in the 100 block of Nueces Avenue in Bloomington. A silver Infiniti parked in the driveway of the home sustained an electrical fire under its hood after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Ron Pray, Victoria County fire marshal.

Czech traditions examined in museum exhibit 31 minutes ago

The exhibit is sponsored by Spoetzl Brewery and Victoria community members and is made possible in part by a grant from Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Man arrested after suspected of fleeing Jackson County ... 5 hours...

Alex William Cook, of Seadrift, left the Jackson County Court about 8:54 a.m. and fled in his vehicle after he learned he had two Victoria County warrants and a parole violation, according to officials at the Sheriff's Office. Cook drove a few blocks before fleeing on foot.
