FluMist Program presented to St. Lucie County by Healthy Schools

School Districts all around Florida are joining in with Tony Boselli's company "Healthy Schools" in order to kick off the FluMist Program, "Teach Flu a Lesson". The former Jacksonville Jaguar football player #71 presented the FluMist Program to school principals recently outlining how the FluMist program has been proven to be effective in preventing disease and reducing absenteeism.

SchoolPool: Software system to help parents, students and schools

School Districts on the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach County are awesomely amazing in practical yet futuristic approaches and ideas to educate the complete child in efforts to point them in directions which address the needs of each individual. For example, St. Lucie County School District is working to increase participation in its partnership with South Florida Commuter Services , which is a program of the Florida Department of Transportation through SchoolPool, a software system that helps to connect interested parents who live near one another so that they can plan such activities as a " walking " school bus, bike pools, car pools, etc.

Suspicious packages on railway tracks revealed to be cow tongues embedded with nails and pins

A search is underway by the Indian River County Sheriff's Office for the person who left two packages on the railroad tracks in Sebastian, Florida, on Sunday. Deputies said they found two cylindrical-shaped packages that appeared to be wrapped with wire or string.

Packages of cow tongues left on IRC train tracks

A search is underway by the Indian River County Sheriff's Office for the person who left two packages on the railroad tracks on Roseland Road Sunday. The bomb squad from the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office checked the packages and found that they were not dangerous.

Roseland Road reopened to traffic after...

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's bomb squad found "nothing dangerous" after inspecting a suspicious object found on the railroad tracks at Roseland Road, a sheriff's spokesman said Sunday afternoon. Traffic had been diverted in both directions until the bomb squad could make its inspection, Flowers said, and the track was closed.

Boy seriously injured in school bus crash

Fort Pierce police say the St. Lucie County school bus was carrying seven students to Dan McCarty Middle School Friday morning when 94-year-old Frances McNees crashed into it at an intersection. Officials say the boy was airlifted to a West Palm Beach hospital.

The 70-person St. Lucie County Property Appraiser's Office, led by former Senate President Ken Pruitt, has won the biggest annual award the International Association of Assessing Officers hands out -- the 2014 Distinguished Assessment Jurisdiction Award. The award is presented to a national, state, regional or local agency that has instituted a technical, procedural, or administrative program that improves on prior programs, and is recognized as a component of a model assessment system and a contributing factor to equity in property taxation.
