Fort Pierce police officer investigated, fined for violating animal care laws

A police officer was cited for violating city animal care ordinances in the handling of his two pet dogs, one of which had to be euthanized because of severe mange, according to police reports.

Fort Pierce officials give preliminary OK to stronger fertilizer ordinance

Citing the need to adopt a uniform ordinance across St. Lucie County, the Fort Pierce City Commission gave its initial approval Monday to a strong fertilizer law to protect the Indian River Lagoon.
