Jack Willing Jr., chairman of the Somerset County Board of Education and the county's planning director, was found dead Wednesday night of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Maryland State Police.

School lunch prices rise

PRINCESS ANNE -- Students returning to Somerset County public schools in the fall are paying more for meals, but at least at one high school they'll have an additional half-hour to eat lunch and, at an elementary school, students get fresh fruit on their trays as part of a state pilot program.
