Seminole County sheriff fires veteran elder-services officer who accepted $38,000

Dorothy "Dotti" Burkett, a champion of the elderly in Seminole County for more than 15 years, was fired last month after an investigation found she accepted more than $38,000 from the heir of a man she helped in her role as an elder-services officer with the Sheriff's Office.
