Lake Murray plan would slow growth
“It's going to hurt us to some degree”
Suburbia's spread to the western half of Lake Murray would be slowed under a plan from South Carolina Electric & Gas Co.
The Midlands-based utility that runs the 47,500-acre lake is proposing to save more shoreline from development and allow fewer new docks.
Those changes, if adopted, mainly would affect the rural area west of Dreher Island State Recreation Area.
'It will reduce destruction of the shoreline,' said Tommy Boozer, SCE&G's lake manger. 'It will make a big difference.' Read more
