Garrett Post, age 86, of Sibley, formerly of Ocheyedan, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2008, at the Country View Manor in Sibley.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Ocheyedan with the Rev. John Knoester officiating. Burial was held at the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery in Ocheyedan.
Garrett Post was born February 8, 1922, in Ocheyedan. He was the son of Henry and Tillie Post. He grew up in the Ocheyedan area and graduated from Ocheyedan High School. He attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, S.D. He worked in Sioux Falls until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in November, 1942, where he served in Okinawa and the Philippines. He was discharged in January, 1946, and worked as Osceola County Deputy Auditor for one year. He married Jeanette (Jean) Swaving in the Christian Reformed Church in Worthington, Minn., on July 10, 1947. He worked for 32 years at Ocheyedan Savings Bank, and the following 11 years he was employed by Chase Bag in Sibley. He and his wife Jean moved to Heartwood Heights in Sibley in 2002. He passed away on Monday, June 30, 2008, at Country View Manor in Sibley.
