SC man charged with felony DUI in June car crash

A 28-year-old Orangeburg County man has been charged with felony driving under the influence involving a deadly car crash in June. The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reported that Magistrate Rob Clariday set a bond at $75,000 Tuesday for Joseph Dyches of Neeses.

SC: County Council to Ask for Transit System Funds

Sept. 15--Orangeburg County Council will consider a resolution Monday requesting additional funding from the S.C. Department of Transportation for the Cross County Connection transit system. Council will consider an second reading of an ordinance changing the zoning on a 10-acre parcel of property at 2025 Bass Drive in Santee from Forest Agriculture to Commercial General.

Officials: Suspect says he'll be 'shooting it out' with cops when captured

Crimestoppers and the US Marshals office say an Orangeburg County man wanted in connection with a July incident has pledged to "shooting it out when the cops came" looking for him. Law enforcement officials say 29-year-old Reginald DeWayne Shaw is wanted for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, reckless driving, hit and run causing injury, failure to stop for blue lights, possession of a handgun, and resisting arrest.

The Democrat challenging Secretary of State Mark Hammond is generating interest in the down-ballot race by criticizing his 183-mile round-trip commute to Columbia that's funded by taxpayers. There's nothing illegal about Hammond's commute from Spartanburg.

58-year-old with Alzheimer's missing from Orangeburg County

A 58-year-old Eutawville resident with Alzheimer's has been reported missing, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office. Murray, who is also known as Wayne, has a a long white beard, and was last seen wearing his glasses, a baseball cap jeans, gray shirts, and gray camouflage bedroom slippers.

Man pleads guilty to shooting death before trial begins

A man previously charged in a 2008 murder pleaded guilty Monday to the 2012 shooting death of an Aiken man. Morris Dorch, 26, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and attempted murder.
