Neb. Boys Ranch suspend services and eliminate 14 jobs

After 45 years of service to Nebraska youth in need of out-of-home placement, the board of directors of the Nebraska Boys Ranch has decided to suspend services, which means the elimination of 14 staff positions.

How sad. So many youth can be helped with the NBR program. Many people have spent years helping youth at NBR. The state of Nebraska should step up and not run out on such a fine agency.

I do hope they can work out a satisfactory decision to reopening to full capacity. If the problem was referrals, why can't they advertise more and have more referrals through child protective agencies, etc? Children need all the help we can provide them when they come from troubled homes. Child neglect and abuse is way out of hand in today's world. I suspect many go unreported by neighbors not wanting to get involved. Sad situation.
