Two county seats contested on Middlesex ballot

The ballot is set for the Middlesex County election on Tuesday, November 3. The deadline to file the necessary papers was June 9. Two seats on the Middlesex Board of Supervisors and two seats on the Middlesex School Board will be on the ballot.

Corps approves Broad Creek dredging funds

From the air, it is easy to see that the channel into Broad Creek is narrowing. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has agreed to use $670,000 in federal stimulus money to fund the dredging of Broad Creek in Deltaville, said Middlesex County Administrator Charles Culley yesterday.

Saluda wastewater permit hearing postponed

A decision on the proposed Saluda wastewater treatment plant will be delayed at least until June to give the Hampton Roads Sanitation District time to study land application as a means of disposing treated wastewater from Urbanna and Saluda.

Following a " sewage summit " on April 14, Jim Pyne, chief of the Small Communities Division of Hampton Roads Sanitation Division , said the HRSD Commission will consider a request to perform a land application study as a way to dispose of wastewater in the Saluda and Urbanna area.
