But with prices at a nine-year high, almonds are in the frontline of a battle over water as California struggles to cope with one of its worst-ever droughts - stoking fears of an almond shortage over Christmas.

A California bank robbery suspect probably should have bought a bag with all the money he's accused of stealing since he was allegedly caught stuffing it down his pants during his getaway. Shawn Lee Canfield was arrested after leaving a Chase bank in Merced County, California, with $2,748, police told ABC News affiliate KFSN in Fresno, California.

Livingston family offers reward for information in homicide case

Blanca Trenado, 29, of Los Angeles speaks with media about the death of her younger brother Erain Sandoval of Livingston at the Merced County Sheriff's Department in Merced on Wednesday. According to police reports, 20-year-old Erain Sandoval was fatally shot near a convenience store located in the 15000 block of August Avenue in Delhi on April 26. Police believe the homicide to be gang-related and no arrests have been made.

Two arrested for Delhi toddler's death

Kalena M.
