Suit claims power plant is dangerous
" The Sierra Club, a nonprofit, conservation organization with some 4,000 members in Kentucky, has sued East Kentucky Power Cooperative, alleging a new boiler at its Spurlock coal-fired power plant in Mason County was constructed without proper permits.
A new 278-megawatt coal-burning power plant is up and running at the H.L. Spurlock Station near Maysville in Mason County, but if all goes as planned, the new unit will produce electricity by burning more than just coal.
