maybe the city or county should run it then-if they have to give the funding they should be the over-seers.
if you want your private charity come up with your own funding!

Im sorry but I do not agree with the way that the Humain Society is run and I will be damned if I give my money to some shelter who does a half a*sed job and doesnt care about their animals, no way! I appreciate there effort but they suck at it! I have volunteered there to try and help out and show my appreciation but I dont agree with the way they handle things.

I used to feel that way too....then i got involved and showed them HOW to to nicer, better ect...sometimes the handholding is the way to go...sometimes joining the group and becoming a boss or BOD person is the way..pick either I say...do not give up

I have tried to get in there and do my part and give love and affection to the animals, while also walking them, cleaning litter boxes, food dishes and whatever else, but when I actually tried to interact with the animals i got scolded and told to clean.... they DO NOT care about there animals all they care about is "doing there job" and how fast they can get it done. Im sorry but animals that are in the shelter need love and affection, they have no clue wats going on, they used to be in a loving home and just got ripped away and put in a tiny little cage to live the rest of there life out. Everytime I go to the shelter to see the dogs and cats I cry they are so miserable and need love hell those dogs would be happy with just a belly rub but everyone there is too involved with there own selfish needs, to think of there poor sad innocent inmates

The Humane Society is a joke. I went to adopt a cat three years ago..had the kitten picked out..had to come back 2 days later to pick up..the kitten had died because it had contracted some "virus". I have a friend who works for a local Vet clinic..they did most of the Vaccinating,Spaining, and Nuetering of all animals at the H.S., and she herself, along with words from the Vet, said that they needed a better hold on the animals leaving from there. They don't clean cages like they should, and the animals don't get the treatment they should. They are WAY OVER PRICED as far as the cost for an animal goes. I fell in love with the kitten I had picked out..but chose another. They just aren't honest. I also had a another girlfriend that got a dog from there..said it was a certain breed(which it wasn't) and her dog ended up being sick the first month she had it...and died almost 2 months later because of some bacteria infection it had(seem to think it came from H S). Just know what you are getting into before you find an animal that you fall in love with. Personaly..go to another H S in the area..just don't use Manitowoc's. I t will save you on headaches and most importantly heartache.

You know as if a animal being in a shelter isn't sad enough, at the H.S. they dont care about the animals at all!! If I had the money I would love to open a shelter of my own so I could show them how its done.... like i said before they dont care about the animals they have... I never once see anyone give them any kind of attention and thats all they want is to feel loved and be rubbed, and hugged! A dog would skip eating for a day just so they could play and be loved! If those ppl at the H.S. actually loved animals they would feel the same way i do! I was lucky when I got my dog from there, no health problems thank god! but everytime I go to the H.S. I cry... I seriously cry all day and all night just thinking about those dogs and the sad sad look in there eyes... im tearing up now its just sad and it pisses me off that they can hire ppl like that and feel like there doing a good thing! There not! It just makes me sick to think about all them good, loving animals that are locked up in a cold, small, cages and the poor cats! OMG stuffed into a 10'x10' room with 30 other cats! No room to play, no room to eat, sleep, even poop for that matter! My God it amazes me how ppl can stick up for a place like that! like i said i voluntered there and got yelled at because when i was done cleaning cages and dishes i petted the cats! It breaks my heart.....

I adopted a few pets throughout the years. The last one was just last spring and I was very satisfied with the process....more so than a decade ago.
I see a big improvement with the current administration dispite the problems they seem to have.
I love animals and I will back the shelter all I can.
