Engineers knew better than to route I-40 through Gorge

Interstate 40 should never have been built through the Pigeon River Gorge. NCDOT engineers knew the rock formations there were unstable and recommended building the interstate along the route of US 70 through Madison County.

Marshall Man Accused Of Raping Child

A western North Carolina man is accused of having sex with a child. Madison County deputies said that 22-year-old Trevor Shuler, of Marshall, has been charged with multiple crimes, including first-degree rape of a child.
