we were driving past Silver Lake on Sunday leaving Highland when we saw a old john boat (empty) up against the big drain by the overpass. I thought nothing of it but Josh thought somone might be in trouble. I was shocked to find this info out this morning.

This is probably not related. Unless you were driving by at 5:30 in the morning.

Suspicious

Just want to Know if anyone knew this person. He is listed in the paper as Willim Woosley, 51yrs old, from Granite City, IL. Also, who was the witness who said they saw him at 5:38 am on the bridge-- this is also listed in the Edwardsville Paper, the Intelligencer. There is no obituary listing for him that I can find in the papers. Also, did a people search for Granite City, IL and there is not a William Woosley age 51 listed as having lived in Granite City. There are no further new stories that I can find that follow up on the story or investigation. Usually you would think that there would be a follow up story to the investigation and an obituray in the paper somewhere as these things don't usually happen often in a small town. Sounds a little suspicious to me.

How does a witness notice a man on the bridge while driving that early in the morning and then say I saw him at exactly 5:38am. If I was driving I would probably only be able to estimate the time but not the exact minute. Was the witness faking/making up/covering up? Did the man really jump or get pushed by someone??? Like maybe the witness????? Think about it. Depressed people contemplating suicide usually sleep late, don't they? I don't think the peak time for suicide is early am. Is it time for a little deeper investigation??????????

The man committed suicide. He had a cinder block in his hand and divorce papers in his car along with bankruptcy papers. Quit trying to make something more than it is. I am sure the family doesn't want anymore articles because it is a very personal matter. Talk about something else worth while.

Hey Rest, you sound upset, yet so sure it was a suicide. How do you know about the cinder block and divorce papers and bankruptcy papers. I did not find this in any newspaper article. Believe me, it wouldn't be the first death in the area that really was murder ruled as suicide.

Just looked up least frequent times of day for suicide and the article said few suicides between 0400 and 0800. Just trying to back up what I said with research data, so here it is. The whole story is just too suspicious for me to swallow hook line and sinker. This has nothing to do with the family's personal matters. It has to do with the investigation of a suspicious death in Madison County. Remember there was no report of a suicide note, which is usually found in cases like this. My deepest sympathy to the family members. Closure for the family is just as important as justice.

Looks like I scared everyone off. What's the matter, are you afraid to think it through and discuss the possibilities?

The State Police handled this since it occured on the interstate.

So What if the State Police handled this. It still needs further investigation.

Mmmmm. Maybe wait for the coroner's inquest, if they have one. New Illinois law says they don't have to have an inquest if the manner and cause of death are clear.

How long do you have to wait for a coroner's inquest down there? It's been at least 4 weeks. Is he on vacation or what??????

Again, they don't have to have a coroner's inquest if the manner and cause of death are clear. I don't know if they have made such a determination. In any case, there are fewer inquests and farther between.

Do you know who was the witness? Do you know if they found a suicide note?

No one actually saw the guy jump off the bridge, so how can they determine it was a suicide??? Is there really any evidence of suicide in this case??????

If there is no suicide note, no actual witness of him jumping, and its the least likely time of day for suicide, then how can they rule it a suicide????? What evidence of suicide did they have that was not reported in the news???
