Melanie Hennings' son was born in a Paris hospital six years ago. Not only was prenatal care and her hospital stay free under the French health care system, but her son, Nicolo, was entitled to five years of free wellness visits to the doctor, said Hennings, an Athens teacher who lived in Europe from 1997 to 2004.
