Stimulus funds set for shovel-ready projects

Much has been said about getting stimulus money for "shovel-ready" projects. It's urgent in our state since these projects could provide hundreds of jobs right away.

Flood warnings and the threat of severe thunderstorms loomed this afternoon over the Las Vegas Valley as scattered storms were bringing heavy rain, high winds and hail to southwest Arizona and southeastern California.

Streams, wetlands to be restored as railroad settles claims

The Union Pacific Railroad agreed Thursday to settle claims and restore 122 acres containing mountain and desert waters after a January 2005 flood in Southern Nevada posed a chemical threat when a train was washed off its tracks.
