House passes bill to rename roads, bridge

State Representative Terry Johnson is crediting testimony by southern Ohio citizens and leaders for the 93-0 passage of a House bill that would, if passed by the Senate, rename two roads and a new bridge after well-known former residents, Branch Rickey, Boone Coleman, and legislator Oakley C. Robbery suspect nabbed in Texas

Earlier this month, authorities from Scioto and Lawrence Counties identified a man suspected of robbing Charter One Bank in Wheelersburg on April 5 and of robbing the US Bank location in Proctorville April 8. On Wednesday, the search for that man ended when authorities located Elvis P. Kerns, 34, of Wheelersburg in Texas and arrested him.

Meth lab procedure training for authorities upcoming

Because the number of meth labs in the region is increasing, Lawrence County Prosecutor Brigham M. Anderson and the Lawrence Drug and Major Crimes Task Force is hosting a Meth Lab Awareness Training Course on Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ohio University Southern Campus in Ironton.
