The Michigan Department of Community Health has immediately suspended the license to practice veterinary medicine of Kurt A. Henkel, D.V.M., based on his convictions in the 40th Judicial Circuit Court, Lapeer County, Michigan.

Soaking rains wreak havoc on roads, property

There was no singing in the pelting rain that stormed the community Wednesday. Motorists sunk in collapsed roadways; residents mopped up saturated basements; fish swam in flooded lakeside yards and a sloshed driveway forced firefighters to reach a barn fire on foot.

The Park and Read program is coming to three Lapeer County libraries. The Lapeer District Library, North Branch Township Library, and Ruth Hughes Memorial District Library in Imlay City will participate in the program that allows valid library cardholders to check out a vehicle parking pass for any of Michigan's state parks.
