PITTSBURG, Kan. - An adult who has Crawford County's first confirmed case of swine flu was recovering Wednesday at home, said Janis Goedeke, health officer for the Crawford County Health Department.

New reports of swine flu continue to appear in Missouri and Kansas.In Missouri, Callaway County health officials have confirmed one case and suspect that another member of the same family also may have the virus.Callaway County Health Administrator Sharon Lynch would not disclose the familys name but said the one case was confirmed Thursday.

Haircut Controversy at Labette Co. School

A southeast Kansas boy is sporting a shaved head. It's not by his choice, but his school's. Six-year old Derby McReynolds had his hair cut in a "faux-hawk." His parents say Labette County school officials told them it was inappropriate and sent him home, so they changed it to what they called a military cut.

Two people were found dead in a southeast Kansas creek Wednesday, bringing to five the number of deaths blamed on violent storms since the weekend.The state Division of Emergency Management said Labette County sheriff’s deputies found the bodies of a 26-year-old Parsons man and a 22-year-old woman from Springfield, Mo., early Wednesday.
