Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a wildfire Thursday in Gotebo that forced the evacuation of the entire town.

The city of Hobart is planning a land run of its own. The southwest Oklahoma community plans to give away a city lot and offer free city hookups to applicants who agree to build a home there.

A fire that is threatening the Kiowa County town of Gotebo has led officials to evacuate all residents from the small community, officials said Thursday.

Pamilea Medley clung to her straw sun hat Thursday as she watched her son's uninsured house in Gotebo go up in flames from a fire.

At 2:27 p.m. the National Weather Service received a report that Gotebo was being evacuated due to a large wildfire that was threatening the town.
