Courthouse security system being upgraded
Every time there is an incident in a courthouse reported, Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar said that he re-evaluates the security procedures in place at the Washington County Courthouse. A recent incident at the Jackson County Courthouse is no exception.

One dead after Jackson County courthouse shooting
The former city manager of Maquoketa was killed after shooting a Jackson County employee during a meeting of the county's Board of Supervisors Tuesday morning. According to Jackson County Sheriff Russ Kettman and Maquoketa Police Chief Brad Koranda, the incident occurred Tuesday when 71-year-old Francis 'Gus' Glaser, a former Maquoketa city manager, grew agitated while discussing the tax assessment on his home.

Police report shooting at Iowa courthouse
The Telegraph Herald reports that a freelance reporter was nearby when the shooting occurred and saw a body inside the courthouse. Mary Stickley, a clerk in the Jackson County Auditor's office, told The Associated Press there was a shooting Tuesday morning at the courthouse, but she couldn't provide any details.

Davenport Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash
A 63-year-old man died and another person was injured in a one-vehicle crash in Jackson County Friday night.
