Prosecutors say a former Belding mayor faces up to 30 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to defrauding a western Michigan bank out of $36,000. U.S. Attorney Donald Davis said in a statement Wednesday that Shane Husted admitted to defrauding his former employer, First Bank of West Michigan.

An 18-year-old Lansing man is accused of shooting an Ionia area man over an alleged drug debt, then stealing the man's tow truck and driving until it ran out of gas on M-50. Mark Shawndell Howell was arraigned in Ionia County District Court on charges of attempted murder, auto theft and felony firearms.
