IONIA, Mich. - Crews have completed their work removing hundreds of vehicles that were stranded at the Ionia County fairgrounds nearly two weeks after storms caused flooding.

The Ionia County Sheriff's Department is asking residents to be on the look out, after a number of home invasions there.

An Ionia County couple just wanted to dig a new pond in their yard. Instead, Rich and Annette Schneider of Portland dug up some history.

It will be Monday at the earliest before those flooded cars will be removed from the Ionia County Fairgrounds.

About a thousand concertgoers in Michigan were forced to ditch their cars Saturday as rising floodwaters led to a mass evacuation, Grand Rapids news station WOODTV reported.

As of Saturday night there were still several thousand people trapped and cars submerged at the B-93 Birthday Bash in Ionia County.

Board members approved an agreement with Gene Paez to provide consulting services for the environmental health division of the health department.
