The group consists of an Executive Board, Professional Board and Members-at-Large, who have in someway been affected by learning. Members of the Executive Board are dedicated to the daily operation of the organization as well as sharing life experiences with both adults and children of learning disability families while the Professional Board is dedicated to responding to specific education aspects of the learning experience. Our signature dinner and fashion show will be held each October, featuring an educator from the community. Funds raised will benefit the mission of 12 Children of Hope to promote learning disability awareness and education of economically disadvantaged and single-parents. This program is funded through the sale of tickets as well as community donations. Sponsorships are available for businesses to become a partner with 12 Children of Hope each year. The goal of 12 Children of Hope is to educate, promote awareness and provide hope and encouragement for families having to cope with different learning disabilities. This program is for seniors that are graduating from high school in the Class of 2009. This applies to those seniors that will be going to technical school or working on their undergraduate or graduate degrees.

Thanks to an uptick in seasonal jobs on the Outer Banks, Dare County's jobless rate dropped to 9.7 percent last month - down from 14.6 percent in March and a staggering 17.1 percent in February.
