This is an informational message from Hyde County Emergency Management.
Reverse 9-1-1 Activation

Hyde County Portion of Belhaven and Pantego
This is an informational message from Hyde County Emergency Management. The Evans Road wildfire continues to vigorously burn and weather conditions are indicative of likely additional spread in the near future. Spot over fires have been occurring west of the Evans Rd. Due to the various weather and fire behavior factors, the Division of Forest Resources has indicated there is a potential, repeat a potential, for the fire to be located near the DeHoag Rd in 12 hours and near Boerma Rd in 24 hours. The area most likely first impacted is likely between County Line Rd and Coulborn Rd, but this is a guess. Additionally, Forestry has predicted the area on upper New Lake Rd near Dunbar Canal Road to be significantly impacted in the next 24 hours.
Hyde County recommends all persons located in the Grassy Ridge & C Canal Rd area to take precautions in case further actions are needed later today or Friday. No one should be in Waterway Landing or on Gall Rd and upper New Lake Rd at present. Your presence may impact fire operations and place you in danger. In preparation, you should gather important documents, medications, and other needed items such as pet supplies, in addition to making contact with family and friends. Please be familiar with your main power disconnect, water and LP gas tank shutoff valves, and please be prepared to shut these off if an evacuation was to be ordered. Please check on your neighbors and offer your assistance. If anyone needs specific assistance should an evacuation be ordered, please contact the Hyde Co Emergency Operations Center at 926-4366, repeat – if you know you will need assistance should an activation be ordered, please contact the Hyde Co Emergency Operations Center at 926-4366.
This threat will continue thru Friday and more information will obviously be provided as available. If you wish your cell phone number to be added to this call list, please email Hyde County EM or call 926-4366, repeat 926-4366 with your name, street address, and cell phone number and I will try my best to have it added by later this evening. Please be safe and again, this is a precautionary message.
