Hmmm... here we have a story of a negligent dog owner who has committed criminal trespass, and reckless endangerment, nevermind violation of the county leash law.(He probably also failed to pay his county dog tax).
AND, what was he doing. I'll tell you--he was training his dogs to KILL. As any coon hunter knows, the dogs usually don't get to fulfill their bloodlusty training. Instead they usually chase the coon up a tree and hold it there until the owner arrives. Then the "hunter" get's to blow the coons head off preferably with a shot "right between the eye's. And the coon falls out of the tree a big bloody glob. Sounds to me like these country folk need to get a big dose of "common sense". This has very little to do with the country folk having to "adapt to their ways". It's really simple--want to let your killers loose. Buy a big piece of land and go for it. Otherwise keep to what you own--you have no right to any one elses property despite how "country" you call yourseeahlf. I hope this negligent ninnny brings a civil case. If I were the property owner I would retaliate with a criminal case that would make the trespasser's skin crawl. And one more thing--it IS legal to shoot a trespassing dog on your property. Not sure where the misinformation came from about it being illegal. Read the Ind state code (that's "law" for all you country types). It specifically addresses this issue. This property owner had every reason and legal (and moral) right to do what he did. I pray next time it happens he does not hesitate and pay a worse price. Sorry this happened but it always upsets the apple cart when the hunter becomes the hunted. That's life mister. |
