Highway 44 reduced to one lane Monday

Patching and hot-mix asphalt resurfacing will reduce Iowa Highway 44 to one lane in alternating directions between Iowa Highway 4 and U.S. Highway 169 in Guthrie and Dallas counties beginning Monday, the Iowa Department of Transportation said.

One person was killed in a collision west of the metro on Monday morning. The crash happened in Guthrie County in a rural area northeast of the town of Yale at 8 a.m. Authorities said the driver of a truck was killed when the vehicle collided with a dump truck.
