Judge it!
This article made little sense. Is the volunteer response team run by a widow, whose husband recently committed suicide, and her daughter? From the comment made by the daughter, it sounds like they don't care about responding because they are grieving. If that is the case, they should let someone else take over so they can grieve and the community can be served.
Then again, the story was so poorly written, I am not sure who said what or why.

A Radium Springs man is unresponsive in the hospital Wednesday evening after collapsing Tuesday.

Radium Springs only claim to fame is the name on the nearby Interstate 25 exit, and the access to Fort Selden State Monument (where the then youthful and future General Douglas MacArthur supposedly chucked his shoes in the outhouse pit).
These folks liver at least 10 miles away from any full time city services. Living out in the boondocks may be nice for the quiet, scenery, wildlife, etc., but people who live that lifestyle had better be prepared to take care of themselves if something happens. If they can't, they had better move closer/into the area that can provide to their needs. |
