Brisk demand for H1N1 vaccine

Since Eastern North Carolina health departments began to receive doses of H1N1 vaccine in mid-October, county health officials report that demand for shots has been brisk - for both standard seasonal flu vaccines as well as H1N1 doses.

H1N1 deaths in state keep Craven a vigilanta

The deaths of three North Carolina patients who had a type of drug-resistant swine flu is a reminder to be "extra vigilant," but probably will not change the way that Craven County responds to the H1N1 virus, Health Director Scott Harrelson said.

Murder trial on hold until Thursday

The murder trial of Gary Lamont Hayes II was abruptly stopped Tuesday morning in Craven County Court when Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Ben Alford learned during testimony that 20 pages of notes by a psychiatrist who examined Hayes were not provided to the defense or prosecutors.
