Suit filed against marina owner

Two prominent Woodford County residents seek repayment of $2.5 million lent to the majority owner of a Lake Cumberland marina, according to a civil suit filed in Woodford Circuit Court.
Jack Kain of Midway, a Versailles car dealer and former chairman of the National Automobile Dealers Association, and Denny Nunnelley of Versailles, a former state senator and former Woodford County judge-executive, are suing John Guzman of Simpsonville.
Kain and Nunnelley, who have several joint business interests, advanced $2.5 million to Guzman to help capitalize a company called St. Thomas Glen Resorts LLC, the suit says. Read more

'She always thought he would kill her'
“I don't know if that was some form of brainwashed”
When Teresa Ann Sawyers turned up missing Wednesday afternoon, her family had no doubt that her ex-husband, Terry E. Sawyers, was somehow involved.
Sawyers had hit and abused his wife during their marriage and had stalked and threatened her after they divorced, said Teresa Sawyers' sister, Donna Lee, of Albany.
'She always told me if anything ever happened to her, I'd know who did it. She always thought he would kill her someday,' Lee said.
That's what authorities believe happened Thursday afternoon in a thicket near a sweeping bend in the Cumberland River, where Sawyers had set up a camp with cooking gear and coolers, a stockpile of food and several guns, including an SKS assault rifle. Read more
