They found inside the house, a partially burned body of a woman.
Yes, they shot him, and took him to the hospital where he later died also.
The cop was treated with his gunshot wound and released.

2 dead after Shelby standoff
Shelby police say a man involved in an overnight shootout with officers has died, and they have discovered the partially burned body of a woman in the house where a standoff took place.
