Report: Fewer Virginia schools meet accreditation standards
New details out today show that the number of Virginia schools meeting the latest accreditation standards has dropped for the second year in a row. Four schools in Central Virginia were denied state accreditation because of "persistently low student achievement."
RPD: Church safety a 'growing concern'
The Richmond Police Department is asking all church leaders to attend a "Places of Worship Safety and Awareness Forum" this Saturday. "For churches, synagogues, mosques, and temples, safety and security is a continuously growing concern," reads a note being circulated by RPD.

According to Chesterfield County Police, police responded to a home in the 3400 block of Summerbrooke Drive for a possible shooting.
Victim In Petersburg Hotel Shooting Dies, Arrest Made
The man who was shot at a Petersburg hotel has died from his injuries. According to Petersburg Police, 39-year-old Laquain Roberson died from his injuries at VCU Medical Center in Richmond after being shot at the Knights Inn hotel near the intersection of East Wythe Street and South Crater Road.

Chesterfield County businessman Steve Uphoff announced Wednesday that he is partnering with a Chinese investment group on a project to build a $160 million indoor water park and hotel/convention center. It would be located on land adjacent to one of Uphoff's existing ventures, an Uptown Alley bowling center complex, on Brad McNeer Parkway off Hull Street Road.

A 26-year-old man is under arrest after allegedly having a continuous sexual relationship with a minor for over two years. According to Chesterfield County Police, 26-year-old Christopher Farmer had an "ongoing sexual relationship" with a then-13-year-old female.
