Otselic man sentenced to four years for second degree assault

Michael C. Thiel, 39, Otselic, was sentenced to a determinate sentence of four years in state prison on Thursday, to be followed by two years post-release supervision along with the responsibility of paying $21,148.48 in restitution to the victim.

$4.7 million in grant funding approved as railroad restoration moves forward

Efforts to restore the railroad that spans Chenango County took another big step forward Wednesday with a resolution of the Chenango County Industrial Development Agency to accept grant funds that will likely lead to trains running through the area again by 2014.
