For people who like parades, Memorial Day promises to be a real treat. Even though Corning will not host a parade this year, Memorial Day parades are planned in Elmira, Elmira Heights and Horseheads, among other locations.

Chemung County deputies to carry heroin OD antidotes

Police departments in New York, including the Chemung County Sheriff's Office, are ordering a powerful antidote for heroin and opiate overdoses that can be provided to patients in emergencies, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said.

Elmira drops 600 private-sector jobs

The region's private-sector employment continued to decline in March. The Elmira metropolitan area, consisting of Chemung County, lost 600 private-sector jobs from March 2013 to March 2014, according to preliminary figures released Thursday by the state Labor Department.
