Drenching rains cause widespread problems in East Tennessee

Local authorities in several parts of East Tennessee have been dealing with flooded roads, traffic accidents and downed trees resulting from heavy rains that have fallen since Friday.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Campbell and Scott counties in East Tennessee.

At 8:37 a m. doppler radar revealed two areas of showers and thunderstorms over Scott and Campbell counties that were producing heavy rainfall and beginning to converge.

Officers chop down, remove marijuana plants

A crew of up to 30 state, local and federal officers cut 151,250 marijuana plants up to 6 feet tall from the mountainous terrain around Jellico in Campbell County, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Agents find over 150,000 pot plants near Kentucky line

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent T.J. Jordan said no arrests were made. He said the plants, many taller than 6 feet, were being taken by air in slings from Campbell County to nearby Indian Mound State Park and then by truck to be destroyed.
