I hope they look into the boy that got burned continually bullying the boy that burned him though. No he shouldn't have burnt him, but I was told the other boy and his friends would bully him and beat the crap out of him often. I'm not sure what the boy was supposed to do... he had reported and ask for help several times. But thats just my opinion...TY

from what I read in the paper two boys were talken and the other boy set him on fire!! I think he should be tried as an adult he left his home with gas, lighter, and sissors so he was planning t his I think they should make an example of this boy rather he was a bully or not that don't mean you should try to kill someone!! he was on a mission when he left his house and now he will have to pay for what he done !! and 15-16 you know right from wrong!!

who did he ask for help?? don't seem he was too scared when he went out walk'n that day if I was scared of some one then I would be keeping my distance not go out looking for them!

It was reported to the school and I think the police were called one time too, if I heard right. This was an ongoing problem... so basicly what your saying is that it was okay for the other boys to continually hurt him... well we both have our own opinions. If what I heard was even true. If the boy had never been bullying him then my opinion will change also

the white boy was talking shit at school, and had proven himself as being weak by not doing anything about it, so the 8 or so black guys had every right to walk up to 2 white guys (one who was only about 8 or 10years old) and start picking a fight, white people are much more more powerful at fighting and i know that little kid would have seriously hurt someone, so its a good thing that the black guys brought some more muscle to get the job done and its probably a good thing the cops took care of it when they did before that poor poor black kid got burned.

If a person gets pushed so many times, eventually they either fall or fight back. It seems to be common knowledge amongst school officials, cops, and the people in town that this Walter kid was bullying/beating up this Billy kid, including beating up the little brother. If the people responsible for protecting you (cops, school officials, parents) aren't doing the job, then you can either take a butt whooping every time you step outside your door or do something about it.

And if you know you can't whoop the kid who's bullying you with your fists, then you need to step out with a weapon, which is what he did. I can totally relate to his line of thinking. If I were a kid and no one would help me, I would do what I had to. Heck, if some kid was beating my kid up all the time, I'd probably show up at that kids house to talk to the parents, and I wouldn't be unarmed. Hopefully his parents have the money to hire a kick-a** attorney who can get him off on self-defense.

From what I've heard, he had good grades and asked for help several times. What I can't understand, is how those juvenile officers came to the determination that he should be tried as an adult. I guess then they wouldn't have to be bothered?

Sometimes the bully will claim that they were being bullied just to save there own skin. I have seen this happen growing up and still to this day, they tell there parents and authority figures a complete lie about what happened. This may not be the case for this one, but it does happen. However, he may have been fighting back especially if the bullies were bigger or stronger than him. He may have felt like that was the only way he could fight back.:)

maybe those bullys will think twice before they pick on someone. They think that they can get by with it becouse the kid is to afraid to fight back or doesnt have people who will stand up for them.bullys walk around like they can beat up anybody.they do beat up alot of people but its only so long before the bully gets a taste of there own medicine.
So funny

If they were gonna charge him It should have been for burning the bar b que.
Or lack of. Had It been the negro whom burned the other It would already have been dropped because It would have been a racial thing...

if you were being bullied, wouldnt you do something? Sure you would seek help first but if nobody would help you and you couldnt physically defend yourself, you would have to do something.

No one said it was ok to set someone on fire. Kids do stupid things when they are terrorized and scared. You need to get your facts straight before you start telling everyone the way it is and is gonna be.

It's because he is black. It's a race issue. They don't want Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton here in Poplar Bluff too many swollen heads now.

Actually, he is white. I don't think Jackson or Sharpton is the reason.

I don't think it's ok for those kid's to be bullying that kid. I see that alot in this town. finally people are getting tired of it and fighting back. The bully's deserve to be punished too. If they wouldn't have been terrorizing other kid's this never would have happened. Do you think it's ok for kids to run around beating up on other kid's and not ever get repercussions for it? If this boy gets off I won't be surprised at all, becouse of the circumstances. I think it's wrong that the boy got burned, but the parent's of the bully's should have taught them better than to go around beating up on people. What did they think would happen?
