Groves Celebrates Centennial +1
Altha Groves was born March 19, 1907, in Borden County, TX to Edwin and Lacrecia Groves
Altha and her parents moved to Spearman about 1924, where they bought a farm approximately 3 miles east of town. Since the death of her father in 1959, she has continued to operate the farm through rental, raising wheat and milo.
Altha has been an active member of First Baptist Church in Spearman, taking part in several mission trips to Matamoros, Mexico, to give aid to an orphanage there.
Altha has been well known in the community through raising parakeets and canaries while on the farm, and selling Tupperware for years. She has also provided room and board for several local school teachers. Read more
