" A five-hour standoff ended with a man dead inside a house in Bates County, Missouri.

A man wanted on attempted murder charges was found dead following a standoff in rural Bates County on Tuesday night, police said.

The trooper was helping to serve a felony murder warrant just north of Adrian, Missouri.

SWAT team officers were attempting to negotiate with a man who barricaded himself this evening in a Bates County home after he shot a Missouri Highway Patrol officer.
