Bartow, Cartersville superintendents discuss new year

Students and teachers have found their stride in the first few weeks of the new school year, but both superintendents for the school systems in Bartow County understand that there are still adjustments to be made, given new policies, new faces and new procedures. John Harper, superintendent for the Bartow County School System, said adjustments during the beginning of a school year are a part of matriculation for students and teachers.

BCSO guards Acworth site against vandalism

After roughly $50,000 in damages to Bartow County Road Department equipment, a Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputy is posted at the site of the future Allatoona Resource Center when crews are not operating. Kiddie Parade Marches Into Cartersville On Saturday

The route will start on Main Street at Bartow Street and will continue towards Main Street. The procession will take a left onto Tennessee Street, a left onto Cherokee Street and march towards the parking lot of Cartersville City Hall where the parade will end.

Rome teen facing vehicular homicide charges

A Rome teen is now facing charges of 2nd degree vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal auto accident that claimed the life of Amy Michelle Brigham. Katherine Lydia Clotfelter , 19, was booked into the Floyd County jail Monday and charged with second degree vehicular homicide and failure to obey traffic control devices.

In Memory: Bill C. Green, Former Cartersville School Board Member

Born January 3, 1931, in Bartow County, a son of the late Leon Green and Clifford Naomi Black Green, he was a well-known citizen of Cartersville. Green was an active member of the Sam Jones United Methodist Church and United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.

County, CRBI launch Highway 411 boat ramp

Floaters, kayakers and canoers will soon have an easier time accessing the Etowah River, as Bartow County and the Coosa River Basin Initiative have partnered to build a boat ramp in the corner where Macedonia Road intersects with U.S. Highway 411. Clearing has begun at the site, and construction on the ramp itself will not happen for another week or two, said Lamont Kiser, director of the county's Community Development Department.

Man's head cut during fight involving knife

A man was cut with a knife Thursday night when he and another man were fighting over a woman. A Cartersville police officer responded to Courrant Street at 10:56 p.m., where he found the victim, who had a "visible cut to the left side of his head and was bleeding," according to the incident report.

Hwy. 140 corridor faces opposition

Having asked all the necessary questions at Tuesday's work session, the Adairsville City Council breezed through the regular meeting - approving, authorizing, adopting, directing and rescinding more than 35 resolutions. The council authorized City Manager Pam Madison to negotiate and execute all contracts necessary to insure the completion of the renovation of City Hall.

Bluegrass & Folk Festival Returns to Cartersville in October

The festival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct 18 in downtown Cartersville. Last year's inaugural event featured 13 bands on two stages, a Kids' Corner and drew more than 2,000 attendees.

Flower Ceremony Celebrates Bartow Lives Lost To Murder

Bartow sites among top FY 2014 investments

According to Gov. Nathan Deal's office, two Bartow County sites are among the top job-creating investments the state saw during its 2014 fiscal year. Toyo Tire's expansion ranked second in the state's projects of regional significance, with Shaw's Adairsville plant ranking fourth.
