Pending appraisal, county will buy Winchester Street parcel for $1.1 million as new jail site

It appears the proposed new Adams County jail may finally have found a home. The Adams County Council and the Adams County Commissioners met in executive session Monday morning to discuss the possibility of purchasing a 162-acre tract of unimproved farmland on the south side of Decatur along Winchester Street.

Flood report rules out new jail on property owned by Porter

And it's back to square one. On the recommendation of Maumee River Basin Commission Executive Director Rodney Renkenberger, the Adams County Commissioners officially eliminated a 22-acre tract of land south of Decatur offered by the Porter Family Foundation as a viable site for the construction of the proposed Adams County Jail.
