- Papa Gino's Pizzeria and D'Angelo Grilled Sandwiches added four new products, the Papa Gino's Cheddar Bruschetta Specialty Pizza, D'Angelo's Grilled Steak and Vermont Cheddar Sub, Chicken-Bacon-Vermont Cheddar Sub and Roast Beef & Vermont Cheddar Toast Sub. The new sandwiches all fall under the D'Angelo Toasted Classics Line. All four menu items are estimated to increase the amount of locally-produced cheese that Papa Gino's and D'Angelo purchase by more than 170,000 pounds annually. Partnering with the New England Dairy Promotion Board, Papa Gino's and D'Angelo will unveil the new items this September at restaurants throughout New England.
Papa Gino's will add the Cheddar Bruschetta Specialty Pizza, with 50 percent more cheese than a regular cheese pizza. The pizza's main ingredient is Vermont Cheddar and will be promoted in conjunction with the New England Patriot's 50th Anniversary. Retailing for $15.99, the Cheddar Bruschetta Specialty Pizza consists of Vermont Cheddar, freshly diced tomatoes mixed with garlic and basil atop a signature Papa Gino's thin-crust pizza. Papa Gino's will introduce the new pizza during Labor Day week. The new Cheddar Bruschetta Specialty Pizza will be included in Papa Gino's Specialty Pizza Promotion, where guests can purchase one Papa Gino's Specialty Pizza and get up to five Large Pizzas for just $5 each.
D'Angelo will add three new Toasted Classics utilizing Vermont Cheddar. The new sandwiches, Grilled Steak and Vermont Cheddar, Chicken-Bacon-Vermont Cheddar and Roast Beef & Vermont Cheddar, will be available starting September 21.
'We wanted to create great tasting menu items with a distinct New England flavor,' said Michael McManama, Senior Vice President Brand Marketing for Papa Gino's and D'Angelo Grilled Sandwiches. 'We worked with the New England Promotion Board to tap local Vermont Cheddar producers to increase the amount of cheese in our products and provide our guests with unique, flavorful sandwiches and pizza that will appeal to every New Englander's palate.'
Papa Gino's and D'Angelo will add an estimated annual 174,000 pounds of locally-produced cheese helping dairy farmers throughout Vermont and New England. According to the New England Dairy Promotion Board, 174,000 pounds of cheese is equivalent to 1.74 million pounds of milk.
'We are excited to work with Papa Gino's and D'Angelo, two outstanding New England companies, to create new menu items that highlight our locally-produced Cheddar,' said Gary Wheelock, CEO of The New England Dairy Promotion Board. 'Supplying Papa Gino's and D'Angelo with our finest Vermont Cheddar helps to support local dairy farmers throughout New England and provides us with an opportunity to bring Vermont Cheddar to hungry New Englanders.'
